GAGE CELEBRATES 70 YEARS OF PROVIDING ENVIRONMENTAL LEADERSHIP

FERNDALE, Mich. -- Gage Products Company, a leading global provider of test fuels, paint solvents and closed-loop paint-system recycling technology for the automotive industry, is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year.

Dedicated to providing its customers with cost-effective programs that also support environmental objectives, Gage pioneered closed-loop purge recycling processes for automotive paint solvents in the 1990's. The company's recycling programs have drastically trimmed waste, significantly reduced operating costs and saved automakers in North America more than $75 million since 1990.

With a fully-licensed Resource Conservation and Recovery Act facility, Gage has recycled more than 70 million gallons of waste solvents, turning them into raw materials that are refined to their original specifications and are reused in the industry.

A global supplier of paint solvents and paint-system recycling technology, Gage employs about 125 people at its operations in Michigan, Mexico, Germany, the Netherlands and Brazil. Headquartered in Ferndale, Gage also is the only Michigan company supplying custom-blended gasoline and diesel test-fuels and calibration fluids to the automotive industry.

"The automotive industry has greatly changed since Gage was founded during the midst of America's Great Depression," a Gage spokesperson said. "At the time, the industry was broken along national boundaries, cars were simpler and environmental concerns were less challenging.

"Today, Gage is involved in a global industry that must pay attention to numerous ecological considerations. We are dedicated to supplying our automotive customers with sustainable business solutions -- such as our closed-loop paint solvent recycling system and our S-590 Cobra&tm; Line Cleaner -- that are environmentally-friendly and will lead to significant cost reductions."

Gage's global customer base includes General Motors, Ford, Toyota, DaimlerChrysler, Land Rover, Volvo, Jaguar, Audi, Fiat, Renault, Volkswagen, BMW, Peugeot, Mitsubishi, Scania and Nissan.

"Our mission is to be the world's preferred supplier of paint-related products and processes along with offering refining services and custom fuels by delivering superior value to all our stakeholders -- our customers, consumers and our community," the Gage spokesperson said.

He notes that the company's efforts have significantly improved the auto industry's environmental footprint by cutting air emissions while reducing process costs and conserving natural resources.

One Gage product is its S-590 Cobra&tm; Line Cleaner, a patented blend of solvents and precisely-sized solid agents that mechanically and chemically "scrubs" paint and other contaminants off the interior surface of pipes. Cobra&tm; restores the paint system to a "bare-metal" condition, which reduces material usage by more than 10 percent and improves sealer viscosity control and paint-flow rates.

Gage has received numerous industry-related awards for manufacturing excellence and efforts to improve the environment, including DaimlerChrysler's Environmental Excellence Award (2001), the Society of Automotive Engineers' Environmental Excellence in Transportation Award (2001) and the PACE Award (1996) for innovation and quality from Automotive News. In 2006, Gage was nominated for Michigan's Manufacturer of the Year Award.

The company also has received numerous quality awards from Ford, DaimlerChrysler and Nissan. In support of its business with automotive manufacturers, major paint suppliers and pharmaceutical companies, Gage has earned both ISO-9001 and ISO-14001 quality and environmental certifications as well.

The company is dedicated to effective and responsible resource management that leads to long-term environmental benefits. Additional information about Gage is available on the Internet at www.gageproducts.com.
