SINAWI WINS NINTH ANNUAL GAGE SCHOLARSHIP
FERNDALE,
Mich. -- Diane Sinawi, a 2004 graduate of Ferndale High
School, is the recipient of Gage Products Company's
ninth annual community scholarship award.
The
$1,000 Gage scholarship is awarded annually to an outstanding
Ferndale High School graduate. The company established
its scholarship program in 1996.
Sinawi
was in the top 10 of her Ferndale High School (FHS)
class, graduating with high honors and a 3.8 grade-point
average. Her strong science and math background earned
her an internship this year at Gage's R&D laboratories
at 821 Wanda Ave. in Ferndale, Michigan.
"We've
been a part of the Ferndale community for more than
60 years and welcome the opportunity to recognize talented
students like Diane," a Gage spokesperson said.
Sinawi
has been an active volunteer in the community and has
worked with the Ferndale Downtown Development Authority
and the Ferndale Chamber of Commerce. She also was a
member of the FHS volleyball and basketball teams and
has been a member of the National Honor Society since
ninth grade. She has received a number of awards for
academic excellence and outstanding community service
as well.
The
daughter of Waleed and Samiha Sinawi, Diane begins classes
at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich.,
this fall and plans to pursue a career in medicine.
